My Stance on Willsboro's Issues

Expand the sections below to learn about me and my plans for Willsboro's future

I’m running as a write-in candidate for Town Supervisor because I want to put my experience to work for Willsboro, leading with transparency, fairness, and a commitment to making decisions based on facts and community input.

Transparency, accountability, and community aren’t just words on a sign to me. They’re the foundation of good government. When we share information honestly and treat one another with respect, trust grows, and collaboration becomes possible.

I’ve spent my career helping organizations solve problems, manage resources wisely, and bring people together. I know how to ask the right questions, dig into the details, and build consensus. Those are the skills I will bring to serving Willsboro.

Our town works best when everyone feels informed and included. Residents should have timely access to information about projects, bids, purchases, and decisions, with clear agendas shared in advance, minutes posted quickly, and multiple ways to follow along whether you can be at Town Hall in person or from home.

As Supervisor, I will:

  • Post meeting agendas and budgets early so everyone has time to review them.
  • Review website for usability and information improvements.
  • Provide clear, consistent communications that are easy to find and understand.
  • Expand options for participation, including online access to meetings, electronic newsletters and bid notices, and text/email updates and notifications.
  • Establish a communications committee to build a plan for how we share information and invite input.

Open communication is about more than sharing documents. It’s about creating real opportunities for residents to be part of the process. By putting facts on the table and making fairness the standard, we can strengthen trust and work together toward what’s best for Willsboro.

One of the biggest concerns I hear from neighbors is about our town’s finances. People want clear, reliable information so they can understand how money is being managed and feel confident that their tax dollars are being put to good use. Without strong controls, processes, and systems in place, it’s too easy for inefficiencies, higher costs, or missed opportunities to slip through, and without proper oversight, the risk of fraud increases, as our town’s past experience has shown.

As a former CPA and Finance Leader who has led diverse, global teams and implemented financial controls for organizations managing hundreds of millions of dollars, I know how to build strong financial practices and ensure accountability.

As Supervisor, I will:

  • Conduct a full review of our financial processes and accounting systems.
  • Create clear, accessible reporting so residents can see where every dollar goes.
  • Ensure the Board has the information it needs to make smart, fact-based financial decisions.
  • Put in place strong internal controls and auditing practices to protect taxpayer funds and prevent fraud.

Good stewardship is about facts and fairness: understanding the real numbers and making decisions that are responsible and fair to every taxpayer.

Willsboro is a special place because of the people who call it home. We may come from different backgrounds and have different perspectives, but at the heart of it we all share a love for our town, our lake, and our way of life.

As Supervisor, I will:

  • Create more opportunities for residents to have a voice in town decisions.
  • Foster collaboration between full-time residents, seasonal neighbors, and local businesses.
  • Encourage open, respectful conversations guided by facts and fairness, so that differences don’t divide us but instead help us see new perspectives and solutions together.

Willsboro’s natural spaces, our lake, our woods, and our parks, are treasures that we must care for responsibly. They’re part of what makes this town such a special place to live, and they deserve careful planning and ongoing attention. I also recognize the frustration some residents feel about creating new parks when the town has struggled to maintain the ones we already have, such as Noblewood. While grants and outside funding may cover initial costs, the ongoing expense of maintenance must be understood and planned for, because in the past we were unable to fund upkeep, and depending on volunteers is not a viable long-term solution. I am a proponent of weighing future park projects on both the initial investment required and the long-term value and sustainability for our town.  Here are some of my thoughts on Parks, Land and Recreation:

  • Lilly Point: The Town Board recently voted to move forward with the purchase from the Adirondack Land Trust. I believe that was the responsible choice. Breaching the purchase contract could have resulted in lawsuits, costly legal fees and damaged our ability to secure future grant funding.  The next step, covered by the grant the Town was awarded, is to work with residents to create a thoughtful, fair, and fact-based plan for the land’s future use, whether that means active recreation or simply leaving it as it is.
  • Noblewood Park: The closure of our beach has been a real disappointment, and I’ve heard from many neighbors about how much they miss it. Before we can make progress, we need clear answers on what the conservation easement allows and a full understanding of the costs to address issues like erosion and maintenance. With that information, we can have an open, community-driven discussion and make fair, informed decisions about the park’s future.
  • Golf Course: The closure of the golf course was another disappointment for the town. The Paine family is currently working to get it back into usable condition and will be gathering information on the costs of improvements and operations. As Town Supervisor, I will reopen the dialogue with the family so together we can make a fair, informed decision about the future of the course.
  • Parks & Trails: On our own property, my husband and I built trails for walking and biking because it made sense for us. That doesn’t mean it’s the right fit everywhere. What I will bring to Town Hall is an appreciation for the value of our shared public spaces and a commitment to facts, fairness, and community input to guide decisions about recreation, conservation, and future projects.

To care for our parks responsibly, we also need a consistent structure for how they are managed. Right now, the Parks Commission is focused mainly on Florence Hathaway Park. I believe the Parks Commission should have responsibility for all our town parks, with the flexibility to form subcommittees for individual projects as needed. I would also like to explore reinstating a Parks Director position at Town Hall to provide day-to-day leadership, strengthen accountability, and make sure all our parks are managed effectively and fairly.

This campaign isn’t about political parties or big promises. It’s about Willsboro.

What I hear most from residents is a desire for fairness, for decisions about parks, community programs, town jobs, and town contracts to be made openly, based on facts, and with equal opportunity for everyone. That’s the standard I will bring as Supervisor: a town government that listens to all of us, not just a few.

Willsboro’s future depends on building an economy that works for everyone: year-round residents, seasonal neighbors, small businesses, and families who want to live and work here. Economic development means making practical, fact-based decisions that strengthen our community while protecting what makes Willsboro special. Housing, including affordable options, is a part of that picture, but true economic development goes further. It also means supporting the businesses we already have and attracting new, innovative businesses that can create jobs and opportunities for residents, while ensuring long-term sustainability.

As Supervisor, I will focus on:

  • Supporting local businesses by making town processes clear, predictable, and fair, so that everyone has the same opportunity to succeed.
  • Encouraging smart growth that aligns with community priorities and balances the protection of our natural resources.
  • Exploring partnerships and grant opportunities that can bring investment into Willsboro without placing the burden on taxpayers.
  • Promoting Willsboro as a great place to live and work, leveraging our natural beauty and quality of life to attract visitors, support tourism, and retain young families.
  • Strengthening youth opportunities through initiatives that support recreation, skills development, and community engagement. Strong youth development leads to a strong workforce, and that creates a stronger local economy for the future.

Economic development should always be guided by facts and fairness: a clear understanding of the costs, benefits, and long-term impact of any project, and a fair process that gives all residents a voice. By planning carefully and working together, we can grow in a way that creates opportunity while keeping Willsboro affordable and true to its character.

Transparency. Accountability. Community. And above all, Facts and Fairness.

These values will guide every decision I make, and they’re the foundation for how I will lead as your next Town Supervisor.

Again, this campaign isn’t about politics. It’s about working together to build the kind of future we want for Willsboro. With your support, we can strengthen trust in town government, plan responsibly for the years ahead, and keep Willsboro a place we’re all proud to call home.
